December 22 – Holiday Traditions

Holiday traditions are important, but just as important is the ability to be flexible, creative and welcoming with those holiday traditions. Over the last three Christmases, my daughter and her partner have been at our home on Christmas morning. Everything is always wonderful, but this season I’ve been giving some thought to a sentimental tradition of ours. My grandmother gave all the great-grandchildren needlepoint stockings back in the ’90’s. They are treasured! But I began to wonder if when it comes time for Christmas stockings, my daughter’s partner feels left out? Maybe? Probably!

So three weeks ago I ordered a personalized needlepoint stocking from L.L. Bean. It’s not exactly like grandma’s but I know it will be treasured also!
